Terms of Service
The agreement between you and IRPCS Ltd when you use our apps and website.
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using IRPCS, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These Terms work alongside our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.
2. Your account
You can create an IRPCS account with email and password, with Sign in with Apple, or with Continue with Google. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or the minimum age required by your jurisdiction, whichever is greater. IRPCS is intended for adult cadets, deck officers, and recreational mariners; it is not designed for children.
You can edit your contact email and display name any time from Settings → Account inside the app. If you ever lose access to your primary sign-in method, contact us at [email protected] and we'll help you recover.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our content for redistribution
- Use the service to break the law or infringe someone else's rights
- Resell or sublicense access to the service
- Use automated tools to scrape, copy, or overload the service
- Share account access with others or use multiple accounts to evade limits, complimentary grants, or discount-code allowances
- Submit deliberately false content reports or abuse the in-app reporting flow
4. Content & licence
The IRPCS app, lessons, illustrations, audio, generated imagery, and code are owned by IRPCS Ltd or licensed to us. The text of the COLREGS is published by the International Maritime Organization and is reproduced for educational reference.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service for your own learning. All other rights are reserved.
5. Subscriptions & purchases
IRPCS Pro is sold as a monthly or annual subscription. Paid features are billed through Apple (iOS App Store) or Google (Google Play) at the price displayed in the app at the time of purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your platform settings (Apple ID Subscriptions or Google Play Subscriptions); the in-app Settings screen provides a direct deep-link to the right page on each platform.
Refunds are governed by the policy of the platform where you purchased (Apple App Store or Google Play). Where local law requires, statutory cooling-off rights apply - contact us at [email protected] and we will help you raise the request with the right store.
We may from time to time offer complimentary Pro grants or percentage-off discount codes (for example, for maritime cadets, academies, or product reviewers). Grants and codes are not transferable, may be time-limited, and may not be combined with each other unless we explicitly say so. Grants can be revoked if used in breach of these Terms or where they were issued in error.
6. Advertising in the free tier
The free tier of the IRPCS mobile app shows rewarded video ads and interstitial ads served by Google AdMob. By using the free tier, you accept that ads will be shown. On iOS you will be asked once for App Tracking Transparency permission; on the first launch in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a regulated US state we will present Google's IAB TCF consent form. You can decline either prompt - ads will still be shown but without personalisation.
IRPCS Pro is the ad-free tier. Subscribing turns off all in-app advertising.
7. Educational disclaimer - important
IRPCS is an educational tool, not a substitute for formal training, qualified instruction, or the published COLREGS document. While we work hard to keep content accurate and up to date, you remain responsible for your decisions on the water. The Master of every vessel retains ultimate responsibility for the safety of the vessel, crew, and other water users under the IRPCS themselves.
Always consult the official IMO publication, your flag state's maritime authority, and a qualified instructor when preparing for any maritime examination or operating a vessel. AI-generated illustrations and scenario images in the app are aids to recognition only and are not navigational charts or official signage.
8. Warranties
We provide the service "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that all content is free from inaccuracy.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, IRPCS Ltd will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from or related to the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising under these Terms is limited to the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) £100.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Termination & account deletion
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. The in-app flow lives at Settings → Delete my data → Delete my account. Deletion is immediate and permanent - we do not keep a recovery window, so make sure you have what you need before you tap delete. Active App Store or Google Play subscriptions must be cancelled separately in the store; the in-app flow blocks deletion until you do, so you are not billed for an account you can no longer access.
Identifying records (your authentication row, sign-in identity bindings, push tokens) are hard-deleted. Business records that we must retain - comp grants, discount-code redemptions, question reports you filed, audit-log entries - are kept in anonymised form (your account id removed, your email replaced with a one-way hash) for fraud investigation and financial reconciliation. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the service in a way that risks harm to other users or to us. Sections 4, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except where local consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim in your country of residence.
